Acute infection
An infection often starts with a slight sense of feeling unwell – a hot forehead, a sensation of pressure, weakness, increasing body temperature, tiredness and other complaints or changes to personal and individual responses. In such cases, the following can help:
1. Vitamin C
High doses can be taken in capsule or powder form, always as buffered vitamin C. You will probably require 1-5 g or more of vitamin C. When you have an onset of diarrhoea, you know you have reached your tolerance limit. Increase your vitamin C intake until you have diarrhoea. Ideally you should take vitamin C throughout the day, e.g. in the form of 1000 mg capsules every 1-2 hours. If you are taking the buffered vitamin C in powder form, dissolve a teaspoon in a glass of water and consume in sips.
2. Zinc
Zinc is very beneficial in helping to combat viral infections, for example. Take 5 capsules of zinc (30 mg each) in one dose, ideally in the evening (i.e. 150 mg in total). The day after, take another 4 capsules (120 mg in total), on day 3 take 3 capsules (90 mg) and on day 4 take 2 capsules (60 mg). For the next 10-14 days, take 1 capsule per day of 30 mg in the evening.
3. Symbioflor (E. coli)
Take 1 bottle in 1-2 days by the teaspoon, i.e. 1 teaspoon every 1-2 hours.Symbioflor should ideally be retained in the mouth and swished around for a short time before swallowing.
